Lucy Canter Kihlstrom
received her PhD in Health Services
Research and Policy from the University of Minnesota and completed post doctoral
training in mental health services research at Yale School of Medicine. She also
has post doctoral training in cost effectiveness analysis (Rand) and quality of
life measurement. She currently is a Research Scientist at the Institute
for the Study of Healthcare Organizations and Transactions as
well as an Assistant Research Scientist in the Institute of Personality and
Social Research, University of California, Berkeley. Prior to entering a doctoral program, she earned an
MSSW
and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and, since 1978, has held
professional positions in various health care and mental health care programs
and facilities. She is the author of
several articles and chapters that focus on aspects of the changing health-care
system. She also has taught business classes at the University of
Wisconsin and Edgewood College (Madison, Wisconsin) and health-related classes
at the University of California, Berkeley. Click on

John F. Kihlstrom
received his PhD in Personality and
Experimental Psychopathology from the University of Pennsylvania and completed
a clinical psychology internship at Temple University. Currently, he is a Professor in the
Department of Psychology and a Fellow at the Institute for the Study of
Healthcare Organizations & Transactions. Before moving to the University of California,
Berkeley, where he is affiliated primarily with the cognitive psychology
program, he held positions at Harvard University (Personality &
Developmental Studies), the University of Wisconsin (Social Psychology &
Personality), the University of Arizona (Cognitive Psychology & Cognitive
Science), and Yale University (Cognitive Psychology). He has taught many classes
during the last 25 years including: introductory psychology, memory,
social cognition, and adherence to medical regimens. Click
